TEHRAN - The ambassadors of Iran, Russia, and China to international organizations in Vienna have held another round of talks on the latest developments related to Iran’s nuclear program.

"Permanent Missions of #China, #Iran and #Russia held yet another round of trilateral consultations on issues related to the Iranian nuclear programme," Mikhail Ulyanov, Russia's permanent representative, wrote on X.

The representatives of the three countries have, so far, held several rounds of trilateral meetings on Iran’s peaceful nuclear program as well as a joint meeting with Rafael Grossi, director general of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

Iran has been the target of extreme economic pressure due to the West’s unsubstantiated claims about the Islamic Republic’s nuclear activities, which are closely monitored by the UN nuclear watchdog.

Before the conclusion of the 2015 Iran nuclear deal, officially known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), the West was seeking to portray Iran’s nuclear dossier as a security issue and tried to act against Iran through sanctions and military threats. However, after the so-called possible military dimensions (PMD) issue was closed in 2015, the West was left with no excuse.

Following the signing of the JCPOA, Iran remained committed to all its obligations. Nevertheless, the United States unilaterally pulled out of the deal, and Europe failed to keep its side of the bargain. As a result, under the same rights stipulated in the JCPOA, Iran took steps to gradually draw down its commitments.

Moreover, talks to revive the JCPOA in 2021 failed due to the West’s foot-dragging and excessive demands.

Still, Iran remains committed to maintaining its technical contacts with the IAEA as the country is a signatory to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and the Comprehensive Safeguards Agreement (CSA). Iran has stressed that it stands ready to reach a lasting and reliable agreement that would guarantee the lifting of sanctions.
